NMMS ANNUAL FORAY 2025

Summer in the Sacramentos

Monsoon season in the Sacramento Mountains should be filled with a plethora of fungi and fun!

We'll have three days of forays, workshops, lectures and classes, as well as a BBQ dinner on Friday - All for the low price of $120 per adult and $20 for children under 15 (the price of a kids meal at the dinner on Friday).

Registration is limited to 80 participants. Members only, please!
Don't wait to register.
Register each adult on a separate registration and register your children as Guest on an adult registration.

Well-behaved dogs will be allowed on the forays but not into any of the buildings that NMMS will be utilizing.

There will be a $10 cancellation fee to cover the banking fees if you need to cancel. No refunds will be given after July 24.

Accommodations and Meals

We have a block of rooms reserved at the Holiday Inn Express for $140/night +tax. Lodging price is not included in Foray cost. Use "Mycology Block" when making reservations. Call 575-434-9773. Address is 100 Kerry Ave. Alamogordo.

Plan for a pot luck dinner on Thursday night.

Food trucks will be in the parking lot on Saturday night (not included in ticket price).

ALAN ROCKEFELLER
mycologist, public speaker, biohacker and photographer who lives in Oakland, CA

In 2001, Alan began his studies in the field of mycology, beginning with the fungi of California. Through phylogenetic and microscopic analysis, he has identified several species not described in the scientific literature. Alan regularly identifies mushrooms for several fungus fairs in Mexico and the USA in addition to identifying fungi on websites such as Mushroom Observer, iNaturalist and Facebook.

MANDIE QUARK
passionate researcher and science communicator specializing in fungal diversity

Mandie Quark is an American molecular biologist and mycologist. She currently serves as communications director for the California Fungal Diversity Survey. She specializes in DNA barcoding of new and recognized species of fungi in California and the western hemisphere.

JOEY SANTORE
botanist, American amateur naturalist

Sometimes referred to as a punk rock botanist, Joey Santore has built his public persona on his colorful language, interesting life story, and unwavering passion for native plants. His website is entitled "Crime Pays But Botany Doesn't."
